Coastal Crest brings together my work with dogs across breeding, conformation, performance and training — but ultimately, it is about the relationship between people and dogs.
Papillons and Belgian Malinois have been a large part of that story. The dogs may change, the sports may change, but the curiosity, commitment and enjoyment of doing things with dogs remain.

Coastal Crest grew from a life spent with dogs—living with them, training them, competing with them, and paying attention to the details that make each one different.
The name reflects both the coastal landscape that surrounds us and the sense of movement, character, and connection found in dog sport.
My approach is practical and observant: to work with the dog in front of me, respect what they bring, and build from there.
Coastal Crest comes from the West Coast landscape, but also from the way I think about dogs: individual, capable, complicated, and worth paying attention to.
I’ve spent decades living with, breeding, training, showing and competing with dogs, and that experience has shaped a fairly simple approach—know your dogs, understand what they are telling you, and work with what is actually there.
Sport is part of that process, not an end in itself. It gives us a reason to train, to test ourselves, and to keep learning.

Coastal Crest is the result of a lifelong interest in dogs, movement, genetics, and the relationship between people and animals.
I’ve lived and worked with dogs for more than 30 years, from working-line German Shepherds to Belgian Malinois and Papillons.
Breeding, training, showing, and simply living alongside dogs have all shaped how I approach them.
I’m interested in sound dogs with character, capability, and a reason to be here — whether that means stepping into a show ring, working alongside their handler, or disappearing down a mountain trail. .
